IELTS Writing Practice 6 Task 2

     Recently, many form of technology have been offered to make communication easier and have altered the way of interaction. Internet usage has grown significantly for several years and has been one form of communication technology which every people at this moment know and even utilize everyday. Internet development makes many people and companies compete each other to develop software and website which nowadays we know several of them, such as Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, and Yahoo. The development of communication technology has positive and negative impacts and they will presented in following paragraph.

     Presently most people know social media which heavily depends on internet and use it to interact with their friends and families because it make communication easier. Now, we can find easily to find our old friends and even have a talk with people who far away from our location. For example, when you are in Indonesia and your partner is in America, it was a big problem in the past because there was not any technology could help you to interact with your couple, but now it is not a big problem because you can use some kind of chatting and webcam programs, for instance, BBM and Skype. Moreover, some people are more willing to express their opinion in public because usually shy people find it difficult to express their opinion openly, so it is easier to express it in social media.

     However, it has drawbacks. Some people say that their quality time with their families and friends is decrease because they are engrossed to play social media rather than to meet face-to-face. Sometimes, when you hang out with your friends, you can see that our friends usually look or check something in their mobile phone monitor which social media and it distract the communication between you and your friends. In addition, some kinds of social media are designed properly, so it is very addictive and people can not loose their sight because  it is very attractive.

     I conclude that the development of communication technology has positive and negative impacts. Communication technology, which in this case is internet, transform the communication of people which is easier and faster. Nevertheless, by using them is still apparent interaction and not better than to talk directly with real people. So, we should manage it well in order to get maximum benefits and reduce the disadvantages.    

IELTS Writing Practice 5 Task 2

     Being a good people in society is an obligation for each member in society that children is one of its member. They must be taught how to be good member in society, but there is a debate that either parents or schools should teach children to be a good people in society. Therefore, I will explain whether parents or schools who have this responsibility in the following paragraph.

     Schools have responsibility not only to teach regular subjects, but also moral value in society because most of children's time is spent at the school. They must learn how to be a right people since they have many friends whom they interact with and this is teachers' role who should direct them with several example, such as how to talk politely, how to maintain the attitude and how to give good manners to their friends and older people. So then, according to previous explanation, sometimes we can distinguish people's manners from the level of their education. Usually people with higher education have better manners rather than people with lower level of education.

     However, schools are not enough. Parents have same role, they even know their children better than anyone else. In the other words, parents are more responsible than teachers at school. They must give a proper education and be a good example for their children because children tend to imitate their parents. So, they should give moral values that are needed in society and it is better with adding religion values because religions usually necessitate their people to respect each other.

     In conclusion, I can not say if only one of parents or schools who have responsibility to teach children to be a good member in any society because both of them have same responsibility. However, we must highlight the limit of teachers because their roles finish when the children graduate from their school, so parents must constantly teach them until they feel their children are mature enough.

   

IELTS Writing Practice 4 Task 2

     Some languages are extinct every year around the world. For some people, these problems are not really important because life is more easier without many languages. However, I will explain both positive and negative opinion about the vanishing of some languages in the world below in the following paragraph.
 
     Learning other language seems very hard for some people because it takes a long time, even just to learn their own country. More languages vanish, more easier for people to communicate with another people from outside their country because no more thing hinder our interaction. Moreover, misunderstanding, which happens because language differences, is reduced and people do not worry anymore to make a contact each other.
 
     However, languages is a cultural heritage which is given by our ancestor and  the form of communication that our ancestor make and it persists over time. So, language not only is a communication's tool, but also have precious historical values which indirectly attached on it. According to that reasons, we must protect and conserve their existence, so it shall not disappear next year or next century. We can simply learn it and try to teach to our children as our effort to conserve and protect languages.

     In conclusion, although the vanishing of some languages every year makes life easier, I disagree if we let their presence extinct. We must protect and conserve it because they are one of treasure which is descended from our ancestor and hope it will still be savored by our descendants in the future.
 

IELTS Writing Practice 1 Task 1 (IALF)

           Television is one kind of entertaiment that many people around the world usually use. However, many people say that watching TV regularly is not really good for people, including childen, so parents should not give their permit of watching TV to their children. I will explain both positif and negatif side of watching TV below.

            Recently, TV programs are not only consist of entertaiment programs, but also education programs. Education programs are the program that suit well with children because they have a lot of information and knowledge which children maybe can not get in their formal education and home. These kind of programs increase children knowledge and make them to be open-minded people.  

            However, not all programs are good for children. In the previous paragraph, TV programs are contain of entertaiment and education program. Entertaiment programs are the program which children should not watch it regularly because some of them do not have positif value. Moreover, these kind of programs are usually addictive, so when children watch it first, it is hard to stop.   

            In conclusion, I disagree to stop children from watching TV because I think watching TV is not always bad because there are some good programs for children. However, instead of prohibit watching TV, parents should guide their children which programs that good for them.

IELTS Writing Practice 4 Task 1

The graph shows us about the consumption of the energy in US from 1980 until the projection in 2030.

  The first energy is petrol and oil which is the biggest energy consumption in US. In 1980, petrol  and oil was consumed about 35 quadrillion units. The following years, the consumption was decreased until 1985, which is the lowest consumption and then it was increased again until 1990 and decreased again until 1995. After 1995, the consumption tended to rise up until 2014 and this will be predicted continue to rise up until 2030.

Coal and natural gas is the second biggest energy consumption group. In the beginning, 1980, coal consumption was about near 15 quadrillion units and natural gas was 20 quadrillion units. Their total consumption even was quite same after 1980 until 2014, but after 2015 it will be predicted that coal will be more in consumption than natural gas in the following years. However the gap difference will not be very far. The projetion in 2030 shows us that coal consumption will touch 30 quadrillion units and the other side natural gas will be little below coal about 25 quadrillion units.

    The third group of energy consumption was nuclear, solar/wind, and hydropower. Three of them had same total number consumption in 1980, which was about below 5 quadrillion units. Their total consumption was not really different. However, the projection in 2030, nuclear will be the first, solar will be the second, and hydropower will be the last one in total consumption in this group that their consumption will be below 10 quadrillion units.

Overall, the petrol and oil will continue as the most dominant energy consumption in US and the coal and natural gas will still rise up in consumption even not really significant. 

IELTS Writing Practice 3 Task 2

          Recently, public health is one of biggest problem in the world because of the bad lifestyle of the people around the world and environment influence. Some people say that by adding the number of sport facilities will help to improve public health. However, in my opinion, adding the number of sport facilities is only supporting solution but encourage people to have healthy lifestyle is the most important thing if we want to fix public health issues.

            Presently, the ease in the various aspect of life has been provided by technology which lead people to the laziness and choose an easier choice for their life. It causes the people have passive lifestyle, especially if we live in the metropolitan city. We can see this case to the people with high working hours. Usually they hard to find a chance just to spend their time to walk because they prefer to use car to their office because it is easier. In addition, the ease, which provided by technology, influence the what people eat in their busy schedule. They usually prefer to eat instant noodle to healthy food, like salad , because they have no time to make breakfast in the morning. This condition will affect to people health because of there is no one choice which train their body to get healthy condition.

            According to previous paragraph, lazy or have no time to take time for exercise is the most common reason why people have bad habit which influence their health. That’s why, we can not only build good and many sport facilities, but also encourage people to use that facilities. In the other words, encourage people to aware about importance to have good healthy life is the main homework must be done by us.

            By increasing the number of sport facilities, it will help people to find easily sport facilities around them, but in my opinion, raising the awareness to have healthy life is the main solution to solve public health issues. So, it is very important to build sport facilities but it must be coupled with counseling about healthy life activities.       

IELTS Writing Practice 3 Task 1

            The pie charts show us the population percentage between Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections in 2050.

            Looking first Yemen’s population chart in 2000, almost half of Yemen’s population was between 0 and 14 years old. The remaining with 46.3 percent was 15-59 years old people and 3.6 percent was 60 years old or more. In contrast, 15-59 years old people dominate the population of Italy in 2000 with 61.6 percent, while 24.1 percent was 60 years old or more and the remaining was 0-14 years old.   

            In 2050, Both Yemen’s and Italiy’s goverment have a plan to reduce the number of birth in their country. In Yemen, people with age between 0 and 14 years old will be reduced to 37 percent of population, whereas in Italy, the percentage will be 11.5 percent. For 15-59 years old people in Yemen will still be the majority of population with 57.3 percent and so will in Italy with 46.2 percent. In Yemen, the people with age 60 years old or more will be 5.7 percent and quiet different in Italy which will be 42.3 percent.

            In conclusion, there were a downward trend for 0-14 years old people and an upward trend for 60 years old or more people for both of country. Whereas, the trend for 15-59 years old people for both country is different, which the percentage in Yemen will increase and in Italy will decrease.   

IELTS Writing Practice 2 Task 2

Unpaid community service is suggested as a mandatory program in high school. Some people believe that if the students join this program, it develop their soft skills, such as communication, time management, and working experience. The positive and negative side will be presented in the following paragraph.   

 Firstly, student in high school usually have much free time, however, many of them utilize their free time not for good activities, such as after-school club, but for benefit less activities, like hang out with their friends, game online, and even some crime and dangerous activities. This situation is a worst situation of the school that they must consider for good compulsory program which student will spend their free time for these kinds of program. Unpaid community service is the one of excellent activities which students need because it develop their soft skills.

Secondly, many companies need workers with high standard requirements recently. To make this happen, student must aware the needed of soft skill development program. By joining community organisation or charitable forum, they can have and gain new skill and get new connection as well. They will be more creative, able to manage their time better, know how to communicate well to other people, and become open-minded people and it will never happen if the students just spend their time for meaningless activities.

However, there is also drawback, although it is not really problematic. Time is the problem for student which join unpaid community service because a few of  their time for school is taken. This problem can be solved  by good time management.

In my  opinion, I agree to implement this program to students in high school because the benefit which student can get is very precious. I hope this program will start in the high school as soon as possible.  

IELTS Writing Practice 2 Task 1

The bar chart shows us a three kind of telephone calls and its time has been used (in minutes) from 1995-2002 in UK.

First chart bar or local fixed line calls is the highest use from 1995 until 2002. The use increased smoothly from around 70 billions minutes in 1995 until hit the highest point in 1999 which the total amount is 90 billions minutes. But the following years, the use was decline until its lowest state in 2002 with around 70 billions total number of minutes.

Turning to the data for national and international fixed line which be marked by second chart bar. The growth of this line rose from 1995 until 2002 which the trend of chart rising was almost linear.

We move onto the last chart bar which represent mobile calls. When in 1995, the use of mobile calls is the lowest from all the lines. However, the graphic increased slowly and exponentially from almost zero use in 1995 until approximately 40 billions total minutes.    

From this picture, we can conclude that the development of telephone call for each kind of communication tool that although local fixed line still the most favourite to use but the growth both of national and international fixed line and mobile lines approach the growth of local fixed line.  If this trend continue into the following years, it will possible if the growth of mobile line or national/international fixed line will be at the top and the growth of  local fixed line will be in the bottom. 

IELTS Writing Practice 1 Task 2

Foreign language education is a new problem for students in the school. Some experts give their opinion that foreign language education is better to be taught since the primary school. There are both advantages and disadvantages of teaching foreign language in primary school which I will explain in the following paragraph. 

The needed of foreign language is urgent for global era right now and it needs long time to study other language. Some educational experts think the best time of learning foreign language is  in primary school rather than secondary school because more young the children is more easy to learn and shape their tongue to speak the other language. In addition, the time in primary school is more flexible and students able to spend more time to learn foreign language.

However, primary school students have high risk in loss their nationality because language is the one of the important part of country identity. With learning other language, it can break their own language because maybe the students is more interested to learn . It can be proved by the National Exam for senior high school students in Indonesia which get more good result in English than in Bahasa. It is the most worried problem for government because many students are more interesting with foreign language than their own country language.   

In conclusion, teaching foreign language earlier has more advantages side rather than their disadvantages. Although introducing it earlier have positive side, the teachers must have appropriate teaching methods without losing student learning interest of their own country language. 

IELTS Writing Practice 1 Task 1

The picture shows us the differences of island before and after the facilities was built for tourists.

The condition of island before construction was very empty because no one have ever touched the island. There was no any facilities to be used to stay and eat and so was access as well. Therefore the island with this condition could not be used by tourist and really not interesting as a vacation place even there was a beautiful beach in the west of the island because no one access can be used to go there.

Moving onto the one after construction, now the island is very nice for tourists to spend their holiday there. Some facilities, like accommodation, was built in the west and the other one was in the middle of island. The others, such as restaurant and reception, was built between two accommodation areas and the pier was built in the south of island which two cruise ships are docked there. In addition, the owner of island did not forget to provide access in the island. Footpath was built around accommodation areas and as an access to beach and vehicle track was built as an access from pier to the reception and restaurant. By adding footpath, now tourist can go to the beach in the west of island and they can swim near the beach.

In conclusion, there are many changes and development of facilities in the island. Now,  it will be very useful to develop  the sector of tourism in that island.
